First wedding

The first wedding in the new church is thought to have taken place on 28^th April 1872, between Murtagh Murphy of Ballycowan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, and Mary O’Connor of Robertstown, the grandparents of Essie Conroy of Lowtown Lock.

It is likely that the first children baptised in the new church were Michael Sutherland, Barnacrow, son of Ben Sutherland and Catherine Dunne; Dominick Sheridan of Pollardstown, son of Dominick Sheridan and Kate Dowling; and John Bagnall of Allenwood, son of John Bagnall and Mary Kelly.

These children were baptised on 14^th April, 21^st April, and 28^th April 1872.

World Meeting of Families – August 2018

Dublin has been chosen by Pope Francis to host the next World Meeting of Families in August 2018. This major world event celebrates family as the cornerstone of our lives, and the fundamental building block of society and the Church. Families and others from all over the world will gather in Dublin from 21-26 August 2018 to celebrate their lives together, to share their experiences, to reflect on the different challenges they face, and to grow together in faith.
