Allen Parish Newsletter 12th March

LENT
Stations of the Cross during Lent:
• Each Friday afternoon in Allen Church at 3pm
• Each Friday night in Milltown Church at 8pm
• Each Friday night in Allenwood Church after 7.30pm Mass

Mass will be celebrated each Thursday during Lent in Allen Church at 7.30pm and each Friday in Allenwood Church at 7.30pm.

The metamorphosis of a caterpillar from earth-bound grub into a sky-bound butterfly is one of nature’s most beautiful transformations. A similar transformation is made possible through the grace of baptism. We are born again of the Holy spirit and become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Living in the power of the Holy Spirit we can bear witness to the new creation: the new humanity of Christ. How is this possible? St. paul says that we are transformed through th renewal of our minds (Romans 12:2). The original Greek for ‘transform’ is metamorphoo, the same word used to describe Christ’s transfiguration on Mount Tabor. When we come to repentance for our sins and receive God’s firgiveness then we are truly transformed and renewed by the light and love of Christ.

Lord, through your mercy I am a new creation; I thank you. I pray today especially for thos suffering with dementia and unable to recognise everyday life.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM
May your love be upon us, O Lord, as we place all our hope in you.
