First Sunday of Lent – 5 March 2017


Stations of the Cross during Lent:

  • Each Friday afternoon in Allen Church at 3pm

  • Each Friday night in Milltown Church at 8pm

  • Each Friday night in Allenwood Church after 7.30pm Mass

Mass will be celebrated each Thursday during Lent in Allen Church at 7.30pm (excluding this Thursday, 9th March, to facilitate First Confession) and each Friday in Allenwood Church at 7.30pm.

Forms of Friday Penance

The following are suggested as ways of fulfilling Friday penance:

  • Abstaining from meat or some other food;

  • Abstaining from alcoholic drink or smoking

  • Making a special effort at involvement in family prayer

  • Making a special effort to participate in mass on Fridays;

  • Visiting the Blessed Sacrament;

  • Making the Stations of the cross;

  • Fasting from all food for a longer period than usual and perhaps giving what is saved to the needy;

  • Helping the poor, sick, old or lonely.

In Allen Church on Tuesday mornings 10am – 11am, Wednesday mornings 10am - 11am and Friday evenings 7pm - 8pm.  (Adoration will continue as normal during Lent in Allen Church.)

In Allenwood Church on Friday mornings after 9.30am Mass.



Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on Mondays 11am to 3.30pm.



The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated every two weeks.

Fr Moore’s Well

Novena to Fr. Moore commencing 4th March at Fr. Moore’s Well. Novena and Rosary each day at 3pm. Novena concludes at Fr. Moore’s grave in Old Cemetery, Allen, on 12th March.


Social dancing

Every Tuesday night at Sarsfield’s clubhouse in aid of Almas and Sr Muriel’s Home for the Poor. Dancing starts at 9.30pm. Music next Tues night by Pat Costello. Adm: €7.

Eleson United: Annual Easter 400 Club Draw: Tickets €10 each on sale from any Committee Member. Contact Mark Musgrave 085/8719125. Draw takes place on Easter Sunday in Eleson House. Music on the night. 1st Prize €1,000.


Registration night will take place next Wednesday evening 8th March, in Ballyteague GFC from 8-9pm. Registration Fees are as follows: U-10 - €30. U-12 to U-18 - €50. Seniors - €70.

Our U-14, U-16 and Senior Ladies are training away, Spring leagues have began for our U16s and Senior Ladies, next up for Seniors Div 1 will be Sarsfield’s at home and our Senior Div 5 team will face Moorefield 2 away. Both games are down for Tuesday 7th March.

Despite the inclement weather, our Dunne Haulage sponsored Winifred Dunne Memorial Tournament held last Saturday was a great success. The club have a lot of people to thank for the day, to the Dunne and Byrne families, to Allenwood GFC for use of facilities, the participating clubs Milltown, Moorefield, Carbury and Clane. To everyone who donated so generously on the day for Friends of Naas Hospital, and to those who helped in anyway big or small, to remember and honour Winnie. Na Fianna Ladies won the final on the day beating Milltown Ladies on a score line of 2-11 to 2-6.


As the GAA are getting on board with Seachtain Na Gaeilge, Club Baile an Mhuilinn are trying to make Irish more visible in the club.

Our Minor lads are away to Sallins today at 11.45. Our Senior Ladies are away to Raheens on Tuesday at 7.45. All support is very much appreciated. Our Senior men were away to Grangenolvin yesterday

Milltown GAA is holding a Table Quiz on Friday March 10th at the Inn at Milltown. Table of 4 €40. Come along at 8 to watch the Ireland Wales match and Quiz starts straight afterwards. Looking forward to seeing you all there supporting our club and country.

Well done to everyone who joined Sonia O’Sullivan at the start line for Robertstown Couch to 5k run last Sunday. 

Great running at the Leinster relays last weekend for our U13 boys who made it through to the final on the day. 

Reminder our adult Fit for Life 8 week programme starts this Sunday 5th March at 10am. You can still register in the day.
