Allen Parish Newsletter 1st Nov 2009

The love and the courage of parents of children with special needs from Milltown is at the heart of the Jumping Jellybeans success story.  These parents first of all made the brave decision to provide a fitness club for children with special needs.  They then trained and enthused the members of Milltown Foróige Club to put this decision into practice, incorporating the special fitness programme into their weekly schedule.  This is a magnificent achievement at many levels.  The National Permanent TSB Youth Citizenship Award which was presented in The Helix on thursday 29thOctober is very well deserved.  The presentation to Jumping Jellybeanscame at the end of the awards ceremony, a tacit acknowledgement by Foróige of the outstanding contribution made by Milltown.  Parents in Newbridge and in Naas now wish to start a Jumping Jellybeans club based on the Milltown model.  Heartiest congratulations to all concerned.

Congratulations to the newly elected committee, and well done to them on their attendance at the Foroige committee skills training day. We wish them well for their coming year in office. We wish to thank also the outgoing committee for their hard work. A community night will be held in the GAA Hall on Friday 13th November at 8pm to celebrate the National Permanent TSB Youth Citizenship Award. There will be a short film of the club and the awards night, entertainment, refreshments and a raffle. Everyone is welcome.

Officers of Foróige are interested in starting a Foróige Club in other parts of Allen Parish if there is sufficient interest from parents. Contact the Parish Office.
