Even the hairs of your Head are Counted

Today’s Gospel is an affirmation for all those who feel persecuted in any way because of their beliefs or because people are speaking badly about them, or those who feel alienated from their community, their family or even from God. During such times it can be extremely lonely to the point where one can lose their sense of purpose in this world. While we might not want to shout from the rooftops, as Jesus suggests, there is a message here to speak out, to talk it out. Today, spend time on the beautiful words of Jesus in this Gospel – ‘Even the hairs of your head are all counted, so do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows!’ The sparrow, one of the smallest of birds, is cared for and loved by God. This is a reminder that no matter how insignificant we might feel or how challenging the circumstances get, God is with us, each of us. Once again, we are being told how sacred each and every person is and how much we are loved by God. In his eyes, each of us are precious. Today, recall the times or places where you felt God’s supporting presence.

‘When we travel through those wilderness places of our lives where we feel lost, insecure, lonely, frustrated, discouraged, or overcome by business: Help us to trust in you, God of the journey. When we catch glimpses of the tremendous love you have for us and experience a deep, loving connection with others: help us to trust in you, god of the journey.’ Joyce Rupp

In your great love, answer me, O God.

A huge congratulations to our U14s who won the semifinal on Monday night in Milltown with a score of Milltown 4:16 - TMH 4:12
History was made this morning when our U8s became the first Milltown team to hurl on the hallowed turf of Dowling Park. The opponents were Ardclough, a giant of Kildare hurling, but our team was up to the challenge. We scored 3 goals in the end in what was a nail-biting contest. They really did our club and themselves proud. Our U6s also made history by becoming the first U6 side to hurl for Milltown. We even used a vintage Milltown set of jerseys for the occasion (thanks to Milltown Lgfc for the generous donation). They put in a fantastic display against Sarsfields. Míle buíochas to Sarsfields for running a great mornings hurling. Well done to our 2 school lads teams who were both successful against Allen school on Thursday in Allen under a very hot sun! Congratulations to our U6 and U8 girls who were home to a very strong Suncroft team on Wednesday night. Some great display of football from the girls. The Eamonn Reddy memorial cup was held on Friday night at home in Milltown. The cup in member of one of our own Eamon Reddy is now presented to the Winners of the U12 boys competition. A great night was had with plenty of refreshments provided. Don't forget your lotto ticket available from Dave's shop, Liz O’Shea or John Murphy.
