Mission Month of October 2017

World Mission Sunday is in two weeks’ time!
Please remmber that in two weeks’ time, the holy Father invites all Catholics to contribute to a special collection, the mission Sunday collection. World Missions Ireland is the Holy Father’s official charity for overseas mission and is responsbile for coordinating Mission Sunday in ireland. Visit our website
Miles for Mission:
In conjunction with the World Meeting of Families - annual walk/run in the Phoenix Park, Dublin on Saturday, 14th October from 10am. Registration is available online at but runners and walkers can also register on the day from 9am at the Papal Cross!
Registration Costs: 2km Family Event: €5 per family, 5km Walk/Run: €15 per person, 10km Walk/Run: €20 per person.
Given the huge numbers of Irish missionaries overseas, World Missions Ireland and the World Meeting of Families is hoping that this event will be an occasion for families to come together on mission, to enjoy the missionary camaraderie, and help raise funds for missionaries working with very needy families around the world.

The vineyard of the Lord is the House of Israel.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR CHILDREN: Invitation to bring children and teenagers to represent your school, parish or youth group to a celebration in Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow on Friday 13th October at 12 noon led by Bishop Denis Nulty. Details on
Bishop Denis Nulty will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation in Allen Parish on Friday 27th April, 2018 as follows:

11am in Allenwood Church for the children in Robertstown & Allenwood Schools.

Bishop Denis Nulty will celebrate Mass in Allenwood Church on Thursday 19th October 2017 at 7pm to bless the newly amalgamated school.
5th & 6th class pupils will sing at the Mass. Parents and members of the community are invited to attend.
Following the Mass we will have light refreshments in the front building.

Tidy Towns: Well done to Liam Murphy and his Committee on Robertstown's fine showing in the Tidy Towns Competition this year. They gained an extra 6 points and the village looks so well thanks to their continuing efforts.

Our U15 lads are away to Ballymore this morning at 11 am.
Congratulations to our own Lisa Murphy and all the Kildare team who were in action with the Kildare U21 ladies this weekend against Mayo.

A great days hurling in Athy from our U6s U7s and U8s on Sunday last. Great display from all!
It's Scór Na nÓg time again. Calling all our young members born 2001 and above (i.e. U17), if you're interested (or know someone who might be) in taking part in Recitation, Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Irish Dancing, Novelty Act and/or Quiz, please contact us here. We know the club and community has a wealth of talent out there among our young people. We've had good success in Scór in recent years, so let's keep it going! Mams and Dads....please feel free to nominate!

After an absolutely brilliant display of football and a cracking goal by Adam Reidy, the Reserve team beat Kill to emerge as the Reserve Senior Champions!! Thanks to Leslie, Bilco and Ray Melia for their hard work throughout the year. Also to team physio Rob McCabe, who made a very convincing appearance as a super sub in the second half. A big thank you to Tommy Mooney and ABC HIRE for their sponsoring food and refreshments after the game, and to the Travellers Rest for filling the cup!
Well done to our Under 9s who played a great game of football against Sarsfields.
Underage Training every Tuesday and Friday from 7 to 8p.m. please make sure all children have gumshields. Can all parents please make sure they check in at every training. Lotto tickets are also available to purchase at training. The National Draw Tickets are now available from Marie and Padraig. Some great prizes to be won tickets are €10 and all proceeds go to the club.

One Voice choir are putting on an Irish concert of music song and dance on Saturday Oct 14th at 8pm in the main hall. Tickets available from choir members €12.50 each. €10 O.A.P. and €8 student.
Gaelic for mothers and others training continues Wednesdays 7-8pm.
U21 championship draw has taken place with Aylmer Gaels versus St Columbas.
