The relics of St. Thérèse of Lisieux and her parents Sts Louis and Zélie Martin (who are mentioned in the prayer of the World Meeting of Families) will arrive in the Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow on Monday morning, 20th August, for the day.
On Monday evening at 8pm the relics will arrive in St. Brigid’s Church in Kildare Town for a short service, after which they will process to the Carmelite Church for an overnight vigil, departing at
7.30am Tuesday morning on the way to the World Meeting of Families.

Everyone is most welcome to visit the relics while they are in Carlow and Kildare.

OPENING CEREMONY FOR WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES IN CARLOW CATHEDRAL

Bishop Denis extends a warm welcome to all from across the diocese to join him in Carlow Cathedral on Tuesday, August 21st for the official opening ceremony at 7:30pm. With a choir of over 150 and pilgrim visitors from Russia, Belarus and Poland this promises to be a special moment in the life of the diocese.
Refreshments in St Leo’s College from 6pm; Gathering in front lawn of Carlow College at 6:50pm; Ringing of Cathedral Bells at 7pm followed by Killeshin Pipe leading us into the Cathedral for our prayer.
Free parking in Carlow College, St Leo’s and all town public car parks.

MILLTOWN TIDY TOWNS

Annual Heritage Walk will now take place on Saturday August 25th at 3pm. This change of date is due to Pope Francis celebrating Mass in the Phoenix Park on Sunday 26th.
SOCIAL DANCING in aid of
Almas & Sr. Muriels Home for the Poor will take every Thursday night at Newbridge Town Football Club, Station Road, Newbridge.
Music next week by Done & Dusted. Adm €8. Time 9.30pm sharp.

TOWER OF ALLEN
As a part of Heritage Week in Kildare, the Tower of Allen on the Hill of Allen will be open from Saturday 18th to Sunday 26th August (inclusive) 10am to 6pm.
This magnificent tower was built in 1859 by Sir Gerald George Aylmer.

ALLENWOOD YOUTH GROUP is holding a PICTURE BOX SATURDAY on 25th August as part of Irish Heritage Week 2018 to open the new Photography & Graphics Youth Club (starting in October). Locals are invited to bring their favourite family photos to the GAA hall between 9am and 4pm where they can be scanned, those in the photo listed, and saved for safe keeping. All free of charge. ST. PIO’S GLOVE 2018

In Milltown Church Tuesday mornings 10am - 10.30am and Thursday evenings 7pm - 8pm.

In Allen Church on Tuesday mornings 10am – 11am, Wednesday mornings 10am - 11am.
(There will be no Eucharistic Adoration on Friday evenings during the month of August in
Allen Church. Eucharistic Adoration will continue as normal starting on the first Friday in September).
