Thinking of what to do for Lent?

Lenten Programme announced for parishes across Kildare and Leighlin Diocese

Bishop Denis is inviting all of us to take this time of Lent to reflect on our celebration of the Mass and to renew our own appreciation of the Sunday Mass as the highpoint of our Christian life.
Over the coming weeks a whole suite of resources will be available on and iCatholic for parishes and parishioners to draw upon.

Let’s make this Lent make a difference!

Welcome to Lent 2019. With Joy in our hearts and a firm purpose in our step, we set out towards the joy of Easter, Christ's victory over death. As a season of conversion, Lent is a time to turn to God with all our hearts and an opportunity to renew our friendship with God.

Traditionally, Friday has been a day of Fasting and Penance in the Catholic Church. The Irish word for Friday (an Aoine) means “the Fast”. We invite you to consider taking on the Friday Fast in some way;

Abstaining from meat or some other food.
Abstaining from alcohol or cigarettes.
Abstaining from Television or Social Media.
Making a special effort at family prayer.
Going to Mass on Fridays.
Visiting a Church and the Blessed Sacrament.
Visiting the poor, sick, or lonely.
Even children and young people can take part by giving up crisps, sweets, fizzy drinks or staying away from the computer of play station on Fridays.
