Feast of the Immaculate Conception
As the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, 8th December, falls on the second Sunday of Advent, the Holyday is not celebrated this year.

********************************

The Advent Wreath
The season of Advent is a season of waiting on the coming of Jesus Christ, it is represented by a wreath with four candles representing Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. ‘Advent’ means ‘coming’.
The growing light of the Advent Wreath is a symbol of Christ who shatters the darkness of sin and death. Each week as the light grows stronger, we grow stronger too in our reverence for and commitment to Christ.
Purple candles are used in the Advent wreath to remind us of the season’s joyful penitence. A rose coloured candle marks the third Sunday, reminding us that the promise of salvation draws near and that the great feast of Christmas is just around the corner.
Each candle is first lit on the appropriate Sunday of Advent, and then the candles may be lit each day as a part of the individual or family’s daily prayers.

Responsorial Psalm
In his days justice shall flourish and peace till the moon falls.’
