Milltown Church
A very sincere thanks to all the parishioners of Milltown who offered support and rallied to tidy up and secure the Church and prepare it for Mass on Sunday morning last following the break-in on Friday night. The good news is that all items stolen have be
en recovered by An Garda Síochána. Quite a bit of damage was done to the stained glass window, candle shrine, tabernacle and safe. The tabernacle, candle shrine and safe where possible will be repaired and returned to use. The restoration of the stained glass window will take some time to be completed.
As this is the second break in and damage to the Church in a little over a year, An Garda Síochána have recommended a number of preventative security measures to be taken, including the installation of an alarm, a CCTV system, improved external lighting and locking the gate at night. Over the next period of time we will review/implement these recommendations.
