November – The Month of All Souls

Virtual Rosary and Blessing of Graves: Unfortunately we cannot gather at the cemeteries for our November rosary, so this year please join us on our facebook page to pray the Rosary at 12 noon on Sunday 1st November.

Annual Bereavement Mass, remembering our loved ones: Normally on the first Friday in November we gather in the Church to remember those from our parish who have died during the last year. This year, we will be celebrating our annual Bereavement Mass online. Please join us on Friday 6th November at 7.30pm on the Allen Parish facebook page. At this Mass, the names of those of have died during the year will be read out and a candle will be lit for each of them.

November List of the Dead: Please return your November list of the dead (purple envelope). Your envelope can be put through the letter box in the Parish Office, dropped into the collection box at the back of the Church (these are emptied daily) or dropped into the Parochial House. Your lists will be placed on the altar and remembered at all Masses during the month of November.

In November we Remember
Dedication of November as a month of prayer and remembrance for the dead and the bereaved.
On Sunday 1 November, the eve of All Souls’ Day, the bishops and priests of Ireland will lead a short service of prayer at 3.00pm to dedicate the month of November to ‘Remembrance of the Dead and Prayer for the Bereaved’.  Bishops invite the whole country to unite in this moment which will be followed by parish liturgies throughout the month of November.
Please join with Bishop Denis for this prayer via the Cathedral Parish webcam at carlowcathedral.ie/webcam

BAPTISMS cannot take place during the current Level 5 restrictions and will resume in Allenwood Church when we can return to public worship.

A CORONAVIRUS PRAYER
Almighty and eternal God,
our refuge in every danger,
to whom we turn in our distress,
in faith we pray:
look with compassion on the afflicted,
grant eternal rest to the dead, comfort to mourners,
healing to the sick, peace to the dying,
strength to healthcare workers, wisdom to our leaders
and the courage to reach out to all in love,
so that together we may give glory to your holy name.
Amen.
